We make 100% pure wood-pressed chekku groundnut oil by pressing oil-rich groundnut kernels in a traditional Vaagai wood press, following a time-tested method without adding any preservatives. It has a naturally sweet flavour and nutty aroma from the groundnuts and is deep yellow in colour.
WHY CHEKKU OIL?
Modern machinery extracts oil by generating high amounts of heat. In contrast, cold pressing mechanically presses the oil from seeds at temperatures not exceeding 120ยฐF. This method retains the nutrients that heat usually destroys during refining. Pure cold-pressed oil is not refined, processed or deodorised. OUR PROCESS
The Chekku made out of the Vaagai (or) East Indian Walnut tree absorbs the heat produced during oil extraction. Since this method does not generate heat during oil extraction, it preserves the nutritional value of the groundnut oil and lends it a signature aroma and flavour. We then place the oil under sunlight until the sediments settle down.
