Vadam – the tradition
Vadam in general is a crispy snack, which is prepared during Indian Summers in households. It is hence a process and the most common activity during the summer. Another specialty is that these are of different types, and limited to just one or two. So, all those love crispy side crunches for lunch, these are just perfect. Not only with Lunch, but Vadams are also consumed as a snack, and are loved by children.
Best with Indian Rice Varieties
The Ompudi Vadam goes best with the Indian Rice. The Indian Rice Varieties are itself many, which includes basic steamed rice, Lemon Rice, Tamarind Rice, Curd rice, and many more. Thus the Vadams are the best when accompanied with such rice items, as they act as a crispy side dish, yet healthy.
Ingredients and preparation
The main ingredient in the preparation of Ompudi Vadam is the Rice Batter and Water. The accurate mixture of these both and the additional ingredients make the snack perfect to eat. The mixture is well ground into a fine paste. After adding items like Salt, these are made into Vadams and let out to dry under the sun. There are also other varieties of Ompodi Vadam itself, where additions like Chilli are made, to bring out a spicier version, unlike this plain one.
